The Miracle When Art Of Living Succumbs To Craft Of Living

For the last 30 days daily I had been wondering while going from Noida to Delhi and back, what in the name of a miracle was happening on the Yamuna bank. Massive structure with massive cranes; massive tents; massive pontoons all coming up at a furious pace as if the notorious Sainik Farms were being re-enacted on Yamuna bank.

I was worried why no one was taking note of it when NGT has so specifically given instruction not to meddle with the Yamuna; when High Court has strictly prohibited any construction on the river flood plains. Now, what is this?

I was wondering that the person getting it made must be a very powerful man who could get away with murder, someone who could do something so glaringly unlawful and none raising any hue and cry. He could even muzzle ever hyper-media.

Then one day the entire structure was covered by the large banners of Sri Sri Ravi Shanker and the whole mystery fell in place. Who can refuse the Guru? Which law will not bend for the enlightened? Which politician would not have peace with the universe?  Which police officer would question the illegal construction? Which TV channel will take a picture of the same? My concerns were addressed. I was happy knowing that nothing was alarming.

But then came the Rs. 120 Crores penalty by NGT and I was dumbstruck. I got my faith back, the faith in law and faith in honesty.

Now If nothing happens and there is no deterrent for such disregard for Yamuna this AOL event will be a bad first for our city. The day will not be far away when rallies of political parties, marriage pandals, public functions and even Auto expo is held there.

How could DDA give permission for the event is worth finding? All development authorities are prone to one massive corrupt practice. Illegal construction is nefariously overlooked at a price by corrupt officials and later when and if there are court cases, the development authorities play innocent heavily penalizing the builder / contractor as if the building was constructed in a day and they were not aware of its illegality. It establishes the Authority to be clean and blames the crime on some junior engineer or peon. The Supertech drama on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway when a massive tower of flats was illegally constructed in park should have been is only one grain of rice in millions. There are scores of such construction coming up in the city and we will come to know about it in few years.  This could have happened with AOL too.

The excuse of DDA that they were misled and that the event was permitted for 30 Lakh people to attend and later it was extended to 35 Lakh is so farcical that one can really laugh his head off.

If Sri Sri has been ripped off by DDA, well he must be little agitated under his calm demeanor. And if this all went ahead with his knowledge then he must be realizing that mental peace and Art of Living also requires saving the environment and following the law.

And finally just wanted to ask why no newspaper or TV channel has shown the massive construction being done on Yamuna banks. The scores of Mobile and It towers, Massive lights, number of pontoon bridges as if a massive construction company is working establishing a town ship in record time. If you know some media has covered – please inform all.
