Bail Galore

It seems that getting bail from the courts in serious crimes of corrupt practices, maleficence and fraud has started carrying a dollop of pride, a skewed sense of righteousness and a strong sense of achievement as it becomes a kind of endorsement of their stand by the only institution, which still has public approbation. The opportunity starved political leaders have started falling for this ploy because this is the only way of being in the public’s memory without resorting to aggressive disruptions of Parliament and Assembly. And addedly one is viewed as a law abiding humble citizen standing before the judge willing to accept whatever the verdict is.

The stock answer of these leaders or their colleagues at such occasions are generally what Amit Shah said with reference to Arun Jaitley. That his life is an open book and there is nothing to hide.

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Laxmi Kant Sharma all have their life as open books, it is another thing that no one in the public has ever seen these open books. All got their bails and were welcomed as heroes.

It is good to be a powerful politician. You get bail on priority. And you do encash that opportunity to see some Bhangra from supporters.
