How do you measure the dramatic changes in the tourism sector of India? Kidnapping for sex rackets; Bouncers; Private Agencies for security for tourists – New glossary for Tourism in India. The following will make it apparent. Last 45 days a mother from Ukraine is trying to locate her daughter in India who had been abducted while speaking to her mother on video call from South extension, one of the most central bustling tony market place of South Delhi and probably sold for sex trade. The mother instead of worrying about her daughter is more worried about her expiring visa. And she will be required to leave this country totally relying on the efficient Police of Delhi to work out the case and get her daughter back, all on its own. The mother of the kidnapped tourist has been to the CM of Delhi and almost all top Police officers of the city, but to no avail. Seems entire script of the John Claude Van Damme movie Six Bullets happening right here in South Ex.

The tourists have started opting for hired bouncers to protect them from harm’s way and for this dedicated tourist security agencies have sprouted in the country. The hotels have started providing dedicated staff, special protection through digital surveillance and security measures.

If we have to make India a tourist haven we will have to start welcoming back-pack travellers and stop insisting on Tourists on tour packages only. Volume is key to the revenue from tourism and despite having all the best any country may offer, the psychological paranoia about India and its pitfalls stops a large number of international tourists from coming to India and makes them go to other destination. The situation will improve only when the common man starts feeling safe in this country.
