New Delhi: Madan Mitra, the Trinamool Congress leader and state minister, who was accused in the Saradha chit fund scam was granted bail on October 31 by ACJM (in-charge) of Alipur on conditions that he would furnish a bond of Rs 2 lakh, would not leave the state and would submit his passport and cooperate with the investigation process.

When couple of vacancies of peons in a government department can have lakhs of applicants then why not privileges like lavish pay, lavish pension, hardly any work, Immunity from crime, opportunity to be immensely corrupt, a large number of so called henchmen or followers and finally being subservient to almost none of the regulatory or statutory agency or organisation should make every red blooded Indian a possible candidate in MP/MLA election. The day is not far when entire population might try to be an elected representative and serve the masses in the same way the present representatives are serving.

The premise in the last paragraph may sound ludicrous but it is about time to look into the farce of the servants of the people who are virtually the rulers of the country and carry law in their pockets. That is what happened when SARADHA tainted Madan Mitra was in jail for so many months but he hardly went to jail because he was very sick and needed hospitalization and almost the entire period he was in the hospital. And then he finally got bail from the court and voila – would you believe it, within 40 minutes of the bail order he was declared medically fit to leave the hospital and go home. That is called screwing the law and the system because of being an elected representative.

That is how Mulayam Singh even after threatening a Senior IAS officer on phone which was duly recoded could not be even questioned because the ever vigil and smart UP Police in preliminary investigation did not find any case against the SP Party President. That is sleeping with the law. It is like becoming a politician and a privileged criminal simultaneously for whom the law enforcement mechanism can be bent backwards. How many such cases you can recall where law was treated as a dumb mannequin.   A day will come when we will have 1.30 billion candidates who would vie to be elected so that they may enjoy the privileges of India’s best job and execute crime without any fear. The crowds of ticket seekers at party headquarters are indicative of the trend.
