Lucknow: IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Wednesday reminded the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav about the 2007 disproportionate asset case against his wife Dimple Yadav in which the CM himself had requested the SC for his wife’s exemption from the case.

He then questioned why IPS officers in the state are being harassed on similar grounds when the case against CM’s wife had been dropped.

Thakur also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister stating that his family members have properties in states including Uttar Pradesh,Jharkhand as well as Bihar. He further said that owning property doesn’t amount to any crime in itself expressing his disappointment that a free inquiry was not ordered in his case.

The IPS officer asked for a free and fair inquiry to be conducted against him. He then dared the CM to get him arrested if that is what he want to do.

The UP Lokayukta has registered a case against Thakur and proposed an inquiry to be conducted against him by “any agency”.

Thakur said that he does not have any objection with CBI inquiry but the state government is reluctant to hand over the matter to the central agency, which will be independent and truthful.

The DA case against Dimple Yadav was dropped in December2012 on the ground that Dimple Yadav was not holding any public office.
