Dimapur:  It was an important political development when NPF(Noke-Kaito) withdrew their petition(Dispute Case No.1 of 2015) from the Election Commission of India(ECI) seeking the party’s ‘Cock’ symbol for recognition as the official NPF.

It became evident from the letter dated April 16, addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, ECI by Noke Wangnao and Nuzota Swuro.  In their letter, the signatories wrote that the decision to withdraw the case was made on the basis of the ECI order on March 27, 2015.

In the order, ECI had said that the internal dispute within the NPF should be settled within the framework of the party constitution. The Commission added that the amicable solution would pave the way for the harmonious functioning of the party, which is in the best interest of Nagaland where NPF is a ruling party.
