New Delhi: Heavy unseasonal rains and hailstorm have severely damaged crops in north and western India.

Farmers are committing suicides in the hinterland, whichlargely remains unreported.  Increasing number of farmer suicides, shock deaths and distress sales of produce and evenland to pay off debt have been reported from the worst-hit states like  Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan,Haryana, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.

Worse, the Met department predicts more unseasonal rains between March 29 and April 1-2.
